What all things a Salesforce tester needs to know?

Also, do they need to have the complete knowledge of Salesforce Development process or only limited to testing would work good?

Salesforce Tester is a person who has acquired the right skills to work on testing projects. Their major roles might include:

• Testing the application in Test Org
• Providing the right permissions to the users
• Writing test cases
• Working on both automated and manual testing
• Verifying and Validating the project code

The role of a Salesforce tester is to include services like Functional Testing, Load Testing, Manual Testing, Unit Testing, Security Testing, and Deployment Testing.
